I am thrilled to be back as a guest at A Vintage Journey and [sew] fortunate to be a part of their 'sew special' challenge.  Always eager to bend rules (semantics on my side); I've used paper fabric - and paper, and fabric - I hope you enjoy my journey.

You can work the paper fabric by hand to create the worn leathery surface; or you can run it through the washer & dryer (i did a load of towels) and it comes out worn and soft.  The more times you wash this product, the more suede like it becomes. *there is a small amount of material shrinkage that occurs using this method.

  1. A-MA-ZING! Thank you for the tutorial. Love how you used the Substrate Sheets - genius move my friend.

  2. Hi Vicki... Once again huge thanks for creating and sharing with us at A Vintage Journey. Paula has summed it up .... Amazing! Nikki xx

  3. My goodness Vicki - what a wonderful framed project! your paper looks so much like leather - love how you sewed it together - so many wonderful details - who would have thought to shear off the edge of the frame and that it would look better that way??!!! - and the tissue tape adds such subtle color to it! A wonderful masculine composition! thank you for sharing your creativity with us at AVJ! Julia xx

  4. Absolutely amazing Vicki, love the Ink Sheets transfer on the fabric and who knew you could wash the paper fabric? Wonderfully creative project, thank you so much for sharing your talent with us as a guest designer at A Vintage Journey, Deb xo

  5. Wow! So many cool processes and fantastic materials. Love this vintage panel ! X

  6. Finally getting around to catching up with your brilliant guest project for us at A Vintage Journey... and I'm glad as it's allowed me a chance to see some of your other recent creations - and I've loved them all deeply. Great to have you with us for the Sew Special month.
    Alison x
